Tips for Saving Energy

Here are our top 3 tips for further reducing your electricity costs!

Are you worried about your energy costs this winter? Start with your home’s heating system—it uses the most energy! With Ngenic Tune, you can already optimize your home, and more than half of our customers are already saving more than 10%. But did you know that together we can do even more?

Here are our top 3 tips for further reducing your electricity costs!

1. Heat your home when electricity is cheapest

As early as last winter, our customers who chose to use electricity price management with hourly rate contracts paid 20–30% less for electricity than they would have under a comparable variable rate plan. And that’s in addition to the energy savings.

2. Turn down the heat indoors

Ngenic Tune provides a more consistent indoor climate, which helps you avoid extremely low temperatures. This allows you to lower the temperature without risking getting cold. Lowering the indoor temperature by 1 degree saves about 5% on an annual basis. Ngenic’s smart control system adapts to the specific characteristics of your home and provides a more consistent indoor temperature.

3. Add schedules to the mobile app

Going on a trip? Put your home on standby. Turn on Auto Tune, and we’ll maximize your savings while you’re away and make sure your home never drops below 12°. Before you return, your home will be heated back up to your desired temperature.

There are many other things that are also easy to fix, such as walking through your home and looking for energy wasters. Old window and door frames let more energy escape than you might think. Is a warm bathroom rug enough instead of radiant floor heating? Does the towel warmer really need to run at full power all the time? Replace all your light bulbs with LED bulbs. Think about what appliances you have running—do they really need to be? Older appliances often use more energy, but start by vacuuming the back of them; this reduces energy consumption and extends the lifespan of your appliances.
